Eskwiżit by Delicata is Malta’s new quality sparkling wine brand

The debut of Eskwiżit presents three distinct Malta-grown varietal wines, all crafted in extremely limited quantities using the Méthode Charmat, offering a sparkling expression of Malta’s indigenous varietals.

The Girgentina Spumante Brut, made from the native Girgentina grape, delivers a creamy mouthfeel paired with lively, persistent effervescence.

The Ġellewża Spumante Demi-Sec rosé, crafted from Malta’s red Ġellewża variety, delights with ripe strawberry flavours, lifted by the same hallmark of a steady sparkle. The Moscato Perlato offers a naturally sweet style, with a delicate perlage that accentuates its grapey aromas and vibrant, fruity palate.

All three wines come in a bespoke slender, low-shouldered bottle presented in bright flint glass with a deep punt. Each label’s wave-line motif immediately creates a sensory attachment. The foil accent on the front label finds perfect continuation in the hand-applied metallic capsule, reinforcing the overall harmony while drawing the eye. It crowns the mushroom cork closure beneath which is secured with a classic wire muselet, as tradition dictates. The packaging enhances the ceremonial delights of the opening ritual.

This release marks a natural evolution for Delicata’s award-winning portfolio, designed to meet the growing consumer appetite for approachable, high-quality sparkling wines with regional character made by a trusted winery.

“This is a milestone moment for Malta’s wine enthusiasts,” said head winemaker Matthew Delicata. “For decades, we’ve built our reputation on quality-driven, expressive and balanced still wines that reflect the best of Malta’s terroirs. With Eskwiżit, we’re bringing that same dedication to quality and craftsmanship to the growing sparkling wine category.”

Delicata’s expansion arrives at a moment of strong momentum for sparkling wines, driven by year-round celebratory occasions and evolving consumer preferences. Millennials and Gen Z are embracing sparkling wine for its light, refreshing style and versatility, with brut-style wines at value-premium prices gaining appeal.

As Malta’s foremost winemaker, Delicata is uniquely positioned to bring credibility, consistency and a taste of Maltese terroir to the growing sparkling segment of the market. The trio of ultra-rare, limited-edition Eskwiżit wines is certified vegan and retails at €14.95 or less. It is set to delight both local and foreign wine aficionados. Delicata’s Eskwiżit in fact opens Malta as a new destination for refined full sparkling wines.
